My Faculty:

I decided to study Law at the University of Chile because it´s the best place to study that career in our country. I didn´t know my faculty until I went to register in my major. My first impression of my faculty when I started studying there was that it was a really serious place, and I still thinking it, but in a different way because I realized that if you comply with your liabilities you can be sure that all your results will be the expected. Some good points of my faculty are:  firstly, it has a good library, with a really complete collection of books related with my major; in second term, my faculty has the best academic staff of all the faculties of law in Chile. Some drawbacks in my faculty are: it´s an elitist place, you can´t found all the Chilean realities there, maybe some people could say that it´s impossible, but I know some faculties that are places more representative and inclusive.  When I have some windows I usually spend my time with my friends in the yard.  I think that when I finish my major I will miss some friends, I know that I´ll always can call them , see them  or something but it will be different, because some people say that best friends in life are meeting at University and the good and bad moments that I´ve lived with them won´t happen again. Other thing that I´ll miss when I finish my major is my daily routine, last year was really different compared with 2008, 2009 or 2010, but I used to spend my winter afternoons in the library, studying for my tests, and I wonder: How will be my life after university?

I´m sorry but nowadays I´m not Green! :(

I must confess that I don´t have many environmentally friendly practice. I haven´t joined any eco-organizations, I don´t recycle and I use public transport every day.
But in my defense, I could say that I don´t have enough time and money for that kind of activities, I always see people of Greenpeace in Baquedano underground station but I can´t join to the organization because I couldn´t pay the fee, and I couldn´t participate actively in the ONG. I don´t recycle because I don´t have time for do it, and it needs organization and work separating the things that you can recycle. Finally, I don´t walk or ride a bike to my daily activities because I don´t live close to my faculty, and sincerely I was born and grew up in the country side and I think that driving a bike in Santiago is too dangerous.
I know that many people learn about environmentally friendly practices at the internet or watching television programs on National Geographic or Discovery Channel, and I deeply feel that is a really valuable practice because the planet and the humanity need changes, we need to realize that we just can´t think in the present time forgetting about the future of our descendants. That necessity has a reflex in the situation of our city. When I was younger I heard that Santiago was the second most contaminated city in the whole world (the first was Mexico City), and that is a terrible thing.
One of the things that I expect to do to help our world is develop my thesis about animal abuse and animal rights. I hope that I have good luck with it.

Our own right to die:

The first idea that comes to my mind when I hear the word euthanasia is people who have tried everything to impose their ideas to all the rest, and that those actions have been done in defense of conservative ideas, even in secular states, that have lost its former clerical link, as our country for example, that in the Political Constitution of 1925 declared that the state of Chile is a secular state. The importance of that quality is that our country can take all its political decisions only with political considerations and that include obviously the limit imposed by law (as all rule of law´s country), and through the law the nation protects human rights. The law is a statement of nation´s will and as such it represents a plural opinion, which should respect all the different ideas. The limit of our rights are the other people rights, so while you don´t damage other people, you should do anything with your own life, the problem is that some people can´t understand that and as they have economic and political power they just impose their values.
In the law´s letter you can´t damage another people without commit crime, even when this damage has been spoiled by the other person.  So, our Penal Code sanctions all the conducts directed to produce harm to other people, including assisted suicide and euthanasia. Euthanasia doesn´t have any legal description in our system, but trials have tried all the cases as murdered or assisted suicide. The problem is that rights have a bilateral structure, ergo; you have a right while other people have a relative duty (this idea was developed for Robert Alexy), so we could understand conducts as assisted suicide or euthanasia like unilateral structures because people who intervene in these situations are just tools, which provide the necessary to people that doesn´t want to live suffering.
I think that in Chilean legal system it could be a good solution, while we don´t have a legal reform, that understand that in private decisions can´t decide other people.
A famous case that shows us how powerful and horrible can be an illness and at the same time how necessary is can decide about our own life is The Sea Inside, a film of Alejandro Amenábar that tell us the story of Ramon Sampedro, and Spaniard who suffered and fought a 30 year campaign in favor of euthanasia and his own right to die.

Phone Hacking News:

There is a Metropolitan police investigation into phone hacking in the city of Essex, called Operation Weeting. There have been some arrests of people that are involved in the investigated case, and this is how Rebekah Brooks has been arrested and bailed in July. But she wasn´t arrested just as a part of Operation Weeting, also as part of Operation Elveden, the investigation into police corruption.
According to a Metropolitan police statement, this morning, a 47-year-old woman was arrested at 6.55am, on suspicion of attempting to pervert the course of justice. Her name is Cheryl Carter, who was Brooks' right-hand for 19 years and was familiar with many of her business. Carter worked with her when she was editor of the News of the World and the Sun and latterly when Brooks was elevated to the chief executive's role. In July, she was designated as the Sun's beauty editor. People assume that she left the company around the time that Brooks did it.
A spokesman for the Metropolitan police said that the woman had not been arrested before and he confirmed that she was not a policewoman.
Cheryl Carter is the second person that has been arrested on suspicion of perverting the course of justice in relation to Operation Weeting.

The Sound of Music:

Why pamper life´s complexities when the leather room smut for the passenger seat?*
Without music, my life would be really boring, monotone, unpleasant, and all the adjectives that you can use to describe that something isn´t working.
Most of my childhood memories are related to music: When I was four or five years old I used to sing songs from Abba, Cyndi Lauper, The Carpenters, and other songs that my eldest brother listened. During the rest of my childhood and including my preadolescence I spent a lot of time watching musical videos or listening to the radio (particularly a radio “Punto 9”, a FM radio from San Fernando). But I realized the importance of music in my life just when I was a teenager. I started listening to Nirvana, Radiohead, Placebo, The Smashing Pumpkins and other bands that helped me to bear that strange phase. I would lie you if I tell you that I´ve never thought in learn to play some musical instrument, specially guitar, indeed  I have always admire the way that it sounds and the attitude that musicians have when they are playing it, but I´ve never taken the initiative, anyway never too late.
Actually my favorite band is The Smiths, a Britain band from the eighties. The beginning quote was taken from its first hit, and it calls you to enjoy life, in the ironical Morrissey´s way.
